Bus accident at Åsvatnet – the bus has been lifted out of the water
Last night, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's accident team arrived at the scene of the accident and conducted initial investigations. The bus was then lifted out of the water and transported to a traffic station in Gullesfjord.
The police have had crime scene technicians on site, who have conducted investigations. The bus driver's license has been seized as a routine. The E10 is now open to traffic.
The Civil Defense searched the waterfront last night. The police have not received any reports of missing persons, but will consider conducting a search with divers or underwater drones during the day.
The police have started the process of clarifying the identities of the three deceased in the bus.
The police intend to set up and operate a next of kin hotline at some point today. We will return with the number and time - this will be stated in the police log.
The police would like to commend the efforts of all those involved who contributed with valuable efforts during the handling of the accident. All the emergency services, voluntary organizations and not least private individuals who accidentally ended up in this situation to help bus passengers. Their efforts have made a difference to many, and the police would like to thank them for their assistance.
