- Some countries require you to have a licence to take a firearm out of the country. Check with the authorities in the country where you live.
- You must be 18 years of age to travel to Norway with a rifle or shotgun. You must be 21 years of age to travel to Norway with a pistol or revolver.
- If you are going to take part in a shooting competition these age limits do not apply. You must bring a written invitation from the competition's organiser.
- The entry permit is valid for up to three months.
Travel with a European Firearms Pass
If you are coming to Norway from an EU/EEA country, you can apply for a European Firearms Pass before you travel. You can apply in your home country.
Travel without a European Firearms Pass
If you do not have a valid European Firearms Pass, you must declare your weapon(s) when you arrive in Norway and when you leave the country. To declare a weapon means giving written notice that you are travelling with the weapon(s).
- Download and fill out the declaration regarding the temporary import of a hunting or competition firearm.
- You must complete two copies of the declaration before you travel.
